After receiving a career-changing grant from John Butler and earning an ARIA finalist nomination for her first studio album, Lou has devoted her life to the craft of original music as a continuously touring artist and songwriter.

For 20 years, she has raised her family in the hills of Mullumbimby alongside her banjo-playing husband Phil, and the landscape has seeped into every note she creates. Her songs are a little rough around the edges, deeply rooted in place, yet somehow universal in their warmth and familiarity.

Beyond her performing career, Lou founded the Mullum Roots Festival, refusing to simply complain about limited opportunities for original artists. Instead, she became the change she wanted to see, creating vital space for musicians to share their craft. Visitors to A Taste of the Huon can expect an unforgettable performance from a true country music outlaw who knows intimately both the highlights and challenges of living a life devoted to authentic songwriting.
