The Stranded Wailers
Far to the south, where deep forests meet wild seas, a group of men gather in the winter dark. Around blazing logs, they sing songs of work, women and whiskey. Rollicking and laughing, passing the jug, they lift their voices to the night until dawn breaks. Come sing with us!
The Stranded Wailers first began as a ragtag bunch of beardy guys meeting to share a song and a fire. As word spread, more joined in, and they've now sung with most of southern Tasmania. They've performed at major Tasmanian festivals, toured the state, and headlined the Bunbury and Albany Shanty Festivals in Western Australia in 2025. More than a decade on, there have been accusations of harmonies, which they strenuously deny. What's undeniable is their big heart and the joy they bring to performing.
